Despite growing up in entirely landlocked states, my love for the ocean and marine life has thrived and grown since I was a child.
Despite growing up in entirely landlocked states, my love for the ocean and marine life has thrived and grown since I was a child. After completing my undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University with University Honors, and following my time as a lab technician at Howard University, I joined the MIT-WHOI Joint Program for Biological Oceanography. My PhD research focuses on the movement ecology and habitat use of the world's 2 largest fishes, basking sharks and whale sharks. I'm also a co-founder of Minorities in Shark Sciences and an active science communicator. I am dedicated to supporting underserved communities in my field and strive to share my love and knowledge of the natural world with everyone, all while encouraging young science enthusiasts to follow their passion for protecting the world around them.
The ocean is our greatest natural resource, and understanding it's ecosystems is key to conversing it's beauty in our world.
